Ismael Kone sarà un nuovo centrocampista del Watford. Il 20enne, reduce dall’esperienza a Qatar 2022 con la Nazionale canadese, é atterrato a Londra e si é sottoposto alle visite mediche, come conferma il Watford Observer. Gli Hornets hanno vinto la corsa al giocatore di origini ivoriane che diventerà ufficialmente un giocatore del Watford dal 1 gennaio. Kone firmerà un contratto che lo legherà al club di Vicarage Road per quattro anni e mezzo. Il quotidiano inglese non conferma invece le voci che circolano su un possibile prestito di Kone all’Udinese al termine della stagione.
Il Watford ha ufficializzato il nuovo acquisto, confermando anche la durata del contratto, sottoscritto per i prossimi 4 anni e mezzo: “Watford FC have agreed terms with Canada international midfielder Ismaël Koné. Koné, who has just returned from competing at the 2022 World Cup, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Hornets and joins for an undisclosed fee from January 1, 2023. The highly-rated 20-year-old featured in each of Canada’s Group F matches against Belgium, Croatia and Morocco, and has nine international caps to his name. He signs from Montréal, who finished second in the 2022 MLS Eastern Conference and third overall, achieving a club-record 20 wins. Born in Ivory Coast, Koné moved to Canada aged seven and signed a professional contact with hometown club Montréal in August 2021, making his debut in February 2022. He went on to play 32 times for ‘the Impact’, attracting genuine interest from clubs across Europe before settling on a transfer to Vicarage Road. Welcome to Watford, Ismaël!”.
